On June 7, 2023, CPCA actively participated in the Senior Resource Fair held at the Western Chatham Senior Center in Siler City, attracting an impressive turnout. The event kicked off with a comprehensive dissemination of valuable information, accompanied by a thoughtful gesture from the Police Department, who organized a delightful hot dog cookout. Attendees had the opportunity to gather information about our Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Rapid Re-housing, and Weatherization programs.

On National Pizza Party Day (May 20th), CPCA staff took some time to connect with each other over some delicious food. We had a great time catching up with staff from other counties.

In January, staff from CPCA, Coastal Community Action, and OEO (NC Office of Economic Opportunity) represented North Carolina at the 2020 CAP Management and Leadership Training Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico! The conference was successful given the number of earthquakes they experienced leading up to and after the conference.
Our trunk rocked!! The Siler City Trunk R’ Treat on 10/25/19 was a blast. We enjoyed all the costumes and meeting the great residents of Chatham County. Thanks to Siler City Parks and Recreation for inviting us to participate in a great event!

CPCA partnered with CORA Food Pantry to be a distribution site for their Summer Nutritional Assistance for Chatham Kids (SNACK!) program. CPCA served 92 children and provided 12,600 meals. WAP Crew Leader Alex Rivera, WAP QCI Cesar Carmona, and WAP Technician Toribio Pena (all pictured) accepted a recognition certificate from CORA.

On 9/13/19, we held our 1st Annual CSBG Graduation and Recognition Banquet at the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel for CSBG customers who rose above poverty and achieved self-sufficiency as well as those who completed major goals towards becoming self-sufficient. We hope this recognition inspired those who have graduated the program to continue to maintain self-sufficiency and those on their way to stay motivated to succeed. We also provided recognition to our sponsors and supporters.

In support of #AllOutMay1, CSBG staff volunteered on 5/1/19 to deliver food from Lakewood Montessori Middle School in Durham to surrounding neighborhoods so children missing this day of school in support of their teachers would have a healthy breakfast and lunch. CSBG Assistant Director, Allexus Porter, and CSBG Case Managers, Angeline Roberts and Michael McMahon had an awesome time delivering food to several apartment complexes.
